June 2005 -
Burnsie the Rally Wagon is back! 6 weeks of
tireless, back-breaking work, and 48 hours before event start,
Burnsie was mobile again. Unfortunately, this left for no time
for a shakedown or any kind of testing, and we found problems.

Eve of the rally,
Burnsie nearly caught fire a-g-a-i-n when one of his power
steering lines burst - spewing power steering all over the engine
bay. Thankfully, we'd wrapped the turbo heavily with header wrap,
thus preventing an immediate fire. The hose was swapped out and
Burnsie fitted to the trailer for transport to the event...
Day 1 of the
event, Right front control arm bushing was found to be completely
shattered. - The team worked as fast as they could to swap it out
at service, but bushing threads had stripped and were impossible
to work with. Repairs cost the team 2 full minutes in time
penalties, dropping them from 1st to 2nd place in GT for the day.
Day 2...
unfortunately, things got even worse! The Left front control arm
apparently had previous damage or stress damage over time. It gave
up on a straightaway. No hits, no offs. Very random, and it
shattered good!! Damage now includes control arm, steering rack,
sway bar, axle and fender.
Good news is that
Burnsie is back! And he was moving really well - few quirks to
work out, few more inspections to do, but he should be 100% for
the next event! Enjoy the photos - Jamie
