April 22-24,2005 -Burnsie the Rally Wagon
and the crew absolutely flew down the stages this weekend.
Setting personal and teams bests, using every inch of the road and having a
blast. After winning their class (PGT - production, 4 wheel drive) in the
Regional Rallies on Friday and Saturday, the crew had a huge lead (and had taken
over 3rd in the National PGT) in Sundays race when things went awry.
Jamie is still not certain
how the accident occurred - but what happened (in theory) is that mid corner on
a Left 4 - something upset the left hand rear. This immediately sent the car up,
into the air and upside down. The first point of impact was the hood and
roof on Jamie's side of the car. The car slid for a while on it's lid before
coming to rest on the co-drivers side. Shortly after this, the car then
caught fire (again!!!!!) which was extinguished rapidly by other rally teams on
the scene. The stage was shut down and Jamie was transported via EMT's to
a waiting ambulance where she stubbornly refused further treatment.
Jamie and Matthew sustained
only minor injuries. Matt is bumped and bruised, while Jamie may have a slight
concussion. The Team would like to thank all of the EMT personnel, Doctor Deb,
as well as the other rally teams on the scene who assisted during the chaos.
More details in the press report soon, but they are both doing just fine, and
the rebuild of Mr. Burnsie is well underway. - Jamie
