Autometer Replica Dual Gauge Pod Holder

11/2004

I purchased the dual gauge meter mount Autometer REPLICA gauge pod off of Ebay. This pod can be found by searching for "subaru wrx gauge" - I paid $9 + shipping... all in all i think the total was around $20 shipped... still about 1/3rd of the cost of the genuine Autometer dual pod.

Quality is good.

Pod is made of ABS plastic, and is unpainted. It is a bit rough on the edges but all in all it is a good fit.  If you were very concerned about the appearance, the pod could easily be painted and smoothed with a dremel tool or some fine grit sand paper.

Fitting: Very simple install.

Lower steering wheel. With screw driver, remove the screws holding the original gauge meter surround into place.  The factory surround will have a rubber flap attached to the bottom of it. Remove this as you will want to find a method to attach it to the new pod.  This flap keeps noise, dust etc. from filtering into the cabin area.  I used 3M windshield sealant to literally "goo" the rubber piece onto the new pod.  The new gauge pod installs in the same manner, by simply using the screws you removed from the original pod.

Cons: the only thing I do not like about this pod, it covers up the low fuel light gauge. You will need to keep an eye on your fuel levels and peek around to check that light if you start to get low on fuel.

I'm pleased with this pod overall. Excellent for what I am going to use it for!

Pod is ABS plastic, comes unpainted

I chose not to paint mine as it's going into a race car... but this would look even better painted to texture/match

Shot of the pod + autometer boost gauge we'd would be installing (with help from pal Ivan) 52mm Gauge is a perfect fit :)

this rubber flap will be found on the stock WRX Gauge meter surround, you will want to remove it and fabricate a way to attach it to the new gauge pod

All meter/gauges are easy to read - the pod is a "suprisingly good" fit

Front shot - boost gauge is very clear, easily read and interferes only with the "Gas low" Light which comes on when the gas level drops
