Where do I get this
kit? IPD Rear Sway Kit -
SubySolutions.com
This rear sway kit includes:
19-23mm adjustable rear sway bar
bushings
super heavy duty mounts
heavy duty endlinks
Bar is solid and is a 19-23mm
adjustable rear bar. I've got mine set on the middle setting of
21mm....
What does this
sway bar do? Eliminates understeer, aids suspension, creates a
better handling Impreza
Adding a larger
rear swaybar to your Impreza will eliminate the understeer (push you
feel during aggressive/hard cornering) and create a much more
neutral handling car. The front sway bar on my 01 RS is 19mm... the
stock rear bar was 13mm and for the past 3 years I've had the Fuji
18mm rear sway bar installed with OE rubber bushings, OE sway bar
mounts and OE rubber rear endlinks. IPD has introduced a rear sway
bar KIT that includes a full upgrade. I thought I'd give it a go!
How do I install
this? Right! Let's get started!
Install was a cinch with the exception
of the passenger side sway bar MOUNT. That mount is pinned up and
underneath the charcoal canister and the fuel filler lines... 2
things you do not want to break or puncture!!!
I removed the bolts holding the
charcoal canister in place, slid the old mount out and the new one
in... but the 2nd bolt, the one hidden under the fuel filler
lines... was a real pain. This took assistance to do as I could not
get the bolt out without help. What we did was one person took a
large pry bar and pried GENTLY against the filler lines
enough to expose the bolt. We were then able to get a socket on it
and remove the bolt. I had to have help to get the new mount back
into place as well - same deal.. pry GENTLY against the fuel
filler lines, get the bolt lined up and back into place.
My thoughts on performance gains:
All in all a very nice kit... beefy
bar - solid endlinks! A fantastic value.
Very impressive and so far I've
thrashed on it pretty hard with smooth predictable handling
and cornering.
NO noises, NO clanking.... Imprezive
kit!
I would recommend this modification to
anyone looking to better their chassis,
better their suspension, better the
overall handling of the car.
Good components to add along with this
modification?
STi Group N top mounts, "aftermarket"
(beefier) struts and springs, larger sway bars.
Tools I recommend:

12mm socket
14mm wrench
